College of Islamic Studies at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University

The Col­lege of Islam­ic Stud­ies (CIS) at the Hamad Bin Khal­i­fa Uni­ver­si­ty, pre­vi­ous­ly known as the Qatar Fac­ul­ty for Islam­ic Stud­ies (QFIS),  is the home of the Research Cen­ter for Islam­ic Leg­is­la­tion and Ethics (CILE), launched in 2012 and for­mer­ly head­ed by Glob­al Mus­lim Broth­er­hood fig­ure Tariq Ramadan. In addi­tion, the CIS Advi­so­ry Board has includ­ed John Espos­i­to, the for­mer head of George­town University’s Alwaleed Bin Talal Cen­ter for Mus­lim-Chris­t­ian Under­stand­ing. Espos­i­to is a for­mer U.S. State Dept. advi­sor and a long-term sup­port­er of the Glob­al Mus­lim Broth­er­hood, who has had mul­ti­ple affil­i­a­tions with GMB groups.
