As you may be aware, we announced last December that the Global Influence Operations Report (GIOR) would resume after a seven-month break. We initiated this revival with the best of intentions; however, as the saying goes, “good intentions.…” While not burdening you with explanations, it’s evident we went silent again after a few months. Embracing the adage “third time’s a charm,” we are pleased to declare our re-return. In our ongoing effort to serve, we’ve introduced some changes to our format. Posts will now be structured in three segments:
1. An introduction to the primary source.
2. An excerpt comprising the initial lines from that source, accompanied by a “Read More” link.
3. The four most significant points derived from the source.
These key points are generated with the aid of AI, significantly lightening our workload. We hope this revamped format will enable readers to swiftly scan the content and determine whether to delve into the original source. In addition, time permitting, we also hope to generate some longer form content.
Additionally, we’ve reorganized the post categories by eliminating Qatar and Turkey, integrating these posts into a new category titled “Global.” This adjustment allows us to expand our coverage to more nations beyond the main influencers in the space—Russia, China, and Iran, each retaining their exclusive categories. While the transnational Islamist network category remains intact, we’re introducing a novel transnational category: the Global National Conservative Alliance (GNCA), which encompasses the political coalition of right-wing and far-right groups globally. (Previously, we included GNCA under “Russia”). As always, we take pride in being the sole publication to explore these transnational networks within the realm of influence operations.
With firm intentions to remain active this time, we echo our previous sentiments of gratitude for your sustained interest in the GIOR. Given the turbulent nature of the times, we are convinced that there is more need for the kind of information we strive to provide. As always, feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything else you want us to know.
Warm regards,
GIOR Senior Editor
