New TASC Board Member is Likely Wife of Erdoğan’s Cousin

The Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC) is listing a new board member, Lynn Mutlu, most likely the wife of the previous co-chair, a cousin of President Erdoğan. As the Global Influence Operations Report (GIOR) previously reported, TASC’s previous co-chair, Halil Mutlu, resigned in February, is Turkish President Erdoğan’s cousin, and was named US representative of Erdoğan’s AKP party. GIOR also reported on TASC’s new co-chair, who may be sympathetic to ultra-nationalistic Turkish groups. Aside from the shared surname, additional evidence that Lynn Mutlu is Halil Mutlu’s wife includes:

  • Turkish media reports say that Halil Mutlu’s spouse is named Lynn.
  • A Facebook profile using the name Lynn Mutlu shows a woman with Halil Mutlu in its profile picture.
  • Halil Mutlu’s employer, Baystate Medical Center, is a part of Baystate Health, the employer named in the Lynn Mutlu Facebook profile.

The Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC) is strongly tied to Turkish President Erdoğan. TASC co-chair Gunay Evinch is a principal of Saltzman & Evinch, a law firm retained by Turkey and registered as a foreign agent of Turkey in 2020. In addition, TASC’s former treasurer, Murat Guzel, detailed his US political activities in e‑mails to Erdoğan family members.
