Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR)

GNCA

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) is a Romanian national conservative political party founded in 2019, rapidly rising to prominence with a platform built on four core pillars: family, nation, Christian faith, and liberty. Positioned on the right to far-right of the political spectrum, AUR promotes traditionalist values, strongly opposes same-sex marriage, and supports the unification of Romania with Moldova. The party exhibits skepticism toward European Union influence, has questioned Romania’s support for Ukraine, yet maintains a broadly pro-NATO stance. AUR’s nationalist and anti-establishment rhetoric, especially under the leadership of George Simion, has resonated with segments of the electorate frustrated with the mainstream political elite and perceived cultural liberalism.
