Anas Altikriti

Islamism

Anas Altikriti is a British-Iraqi activist, scholar, and the founder & CEO of the Cordoba Foundation. He was formerly president of the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB) and is also named as a leading figure in the British Muslim Initiative (BMI), an organization often described as associated with the UK Muslim Brotherhood network. His father, Osama al-Tikriti, was a leader of the Iraqi Islamic Party, which is usually understood as the Iraqi branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Critics note that Altikriti has been portrayed in GMBDW (the Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Watch) as one of the UK’s principal Brotherhood interlocutors—altogether placing him at the crossroads of civil society work, intellectual advocacy, and Islamist political networks. In parliamentary and policy debates, he has been linked to broader Muslim Brotherhood circles without his claiming formal membership, and some of his organizational alliances have raised scrutiny regarding ideological alignment rather than explicit organizational control.
