Danish People’s Party (Dansk Folkeparti, DF)

Danish People’s Party (Dansk Folkeparti, DF) is a national conservative political party in Denmark, founded on 6 October 1995 by breakaway members of the Progress Party. The party advances a patriotic, welfare-chauvinist agenda: defending Danish culture, heritage, and Lutheran identity; promoting strict immigration controls; rejecting multiculturalism; and maintaining the welfare state as a privilege for native Danes. DF is also strongly Eurosceptic, calling for national sovereignty, opposing deeper EU integration, and opposing the euro. It rose to become the second largest party in Denmark by 2015, but has since suffered a significant electoral decline as other parties absorbed its core issues and internal leadership crises eroded its base.
