Party for Freedom (PVV) is a Dutch national conservative political party founded in 2006 by Geert Wilders following his departure from the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). The PVV combines nationalism, cultural conservatism, and populist rhetoric with a strong emphasis on protecting Dutch identity, opposing immigration from Muslim-majority countries, and rejecting what it views as the encroachment of Islam into European society. The party is also Eurosceptic, advocating for greater national sovereignty and a reduction of EU influence in domestic affairs. Economically, it supports welfare programs for native citizens while opposing benefits for immigrants. Since its founding, the PVV has steadily gained influence, becoming the largest party in the Dutch Parliament after the 2023 general election and positioning itself at the forefront of Europe’s broader national conservative movement.
