Erdoğan Sends Video Message to Millî Görüş Symposium

Turk­ish media is report­ing that Pres­i­dent Erdoğan sent a video mes­sage to an inter­na­tion­al sym­po­sium of the Mil­lî Görüş reli­gious move­ment. Accord­ing to the Yeni Şafak report:

Octo­ber 22, 2021: Pres­i­dent Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a video mes­sage to the 4th Inter­na­tion­al Necmet­tin Erbakan and Mil­lî Görüş Sym­po­sium orga­nized by the Cen­ter for Eco­nom­ic and Social Research (ESAM) at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli Uni­ver­si­ty. Erdoğan said: “True believ­ers are like stars in the sky. Erbakan was a true believ­er who worked for his coun­try. The late Erbakan nev­er gave cre­dence to the streets and vio­lence. Thank­ful­ly, we have turned a sig­nif­i­cant part of Erbakan’s dreams into real­i­ty in 19 years.” [Google trans­lat­ed with edits]

Mil­lî Görüş is a Turk­ish reli­gious and polit­i­cal move­ment found­ed by Necmet­tin Erbakan, Erdoğan’s polit­i­cal men­tor, which has called for an end to the sec­u­lar regime in Turkey. In Ger­many, Mil­lî Görüş oper­ates as the Islamis­che Gemein­schaft Mil­lî Görüş (IGMG), which over­sees the work of Mil­lî Görüş chap­ters in at least 12 Euro­pean coun­tries and states that it has over 127,000 mem­bers world­wide. The GIOR has report­ed about the Ger­man government’s asser­tion that Turk­ish Pres­i­dent Erdoğan’s AKP par­ty has inten­si­fied its rela­tions with Mil­lî Görüş in Germany.
