European Hamas Support Group Holds New Elections

Islamist sources are report­ing that new elec­tions have been held for the Pales­tini­ans in Europe Con­fer­ence. Accord­ing to an announce­ment on the Face­book page of the Euro­pean Pales­tin­ian Media Cen­ter, the lead­er­ship elect­ed for four-year terms were:

  • Amin Abou Rashed, Head, Nether­lands (for­mer­ly part of the Dutch Union of Good member)
  • Mazen Kahel, Deputy-Head, and Sec­re­tary-Gen­er­al, France (Trea­sur­er of the French Union of Good member)
  • Ahmed Sak­i­na, Nether­lands, Secretary

The Union of Good was a glob­al char­i­ty head­ed by Glob­al Mus­lim Broth­er­hood leader Youssef Qaradawi that was des­ig­nat­ed by the US in 2008 for the fund­ing of Hamas.

The new­ly elect­ed lead­er­ship replaces Majed Al-Zeer, called by Israel a Hamas activist in the UK, and Adel Abdul­lah (Aka Adel Dogh­man), iden­ti­fied by the US a Hamas leader in Aus­tria. The announce­ment also names the new­ly elect­ed mem­bers of the Pales­tini­ans in Europe Con­fer­ence board:

  • Ahmed Kan’an, Belgium
  • Tahani Al-Badu, Sweden
  • Hus­sein Khadr, Denmark
  • Raed Al-Sala­hat, Italy
  • Zeinab Khalil, Italy
  • Ali Shti­wi, Germany
  • Issa Taha, Denmark
  • Fadi Al-Tayesh, Ger­many (Pales­tin­ian Com­mu­ni­ty in Ger­many, PGD)
  • Mohammed Han­noun, Italy (head of the Ital­ian Union of Good member)
  • Musa Al-Rifai, Sweden
  • Har­mas Har­mas, Austria
  • Wafa Ibrahim, Germany

The Pales­tini­ans in Europe Con­fer­ence first con­vened in Lon­don in 2003 and has been tak­ing place annu­al­ly in var­i­ous Euro­pean cities. Its main spon­sor has been the UK.-based Pales­tin­ian Return Cen­tre (PRC), which describes itself as “an inde­pen­dent, non-par­ti­san, orga­ni­za­tion com­mit­ted to advo­cat­ing for Pales­tin­ian refugees, in accor­dance with the his­tor­i­cal, polit­i­cal and legal basis of the right to return.” The PRC to the Glob­al Mus­lim Broth­er­hood/Hamas and cur­rent and past PRC direc­tors have also been direc­tors of the Mus­lim Asso­ci­a­tion of Britain (MAB), a part of the UK. Mus­lim Broth­er­hood. The PRC is also an affil­i­ate of the Mus­lim Coun­cil of Britain (MCB), which fre­quent­ly acts in con­cert with UK Mus­lim Broth­er­hood groups. PRC activ­i­ties are often pro­mot­ed by the MAB, MCB, and oth­er UK Broth­er­hood organizations.
