UK Iranian Influence Organization Joins Global Muslim Brotherhood Alleging Western Double Standards and Racism on Ukraine

A UK-based Iran­ian influ­ence orga­ni­za­tion joins the Glob­al Mus­lim Broth­er­hood in alleg­ing West­ern dou­ble stan­dards and racism with respect to the Russ­ian war on Ukraine. The UK-based Islam­ic Human Rights Com­mis­sion (IHRC) has released a short video by its chair­man Mas­soud Shad­jareh who says:

March 11, 2022, what we are see­ing now, the polit­i­cal and the media nar­ra­tive that has been play­ing out; the dou­ble stan­dards, the racism, the abus­es com­par­ing what we are hear­ing regard­ing Ukraine and what we are hear­ing regard­ing Pales­tine or Yemen or Libya or Syr­ia, how racism is actu­al­ly demon­is­ing the refugees from these places in com­par­i­son to every­one com­ing for­ward to help the refugees from Ukraine. This is out­ra­geous. But while it’s out­ra­geous, I have to say, if we real­ly under­stand the nar­ra­tive of colo­nial sys­tem and US hege­mo­ny, we shouldn’t be surprised.

The Islam­ic Human Rights Com­mis­sion (IHRC) is a UK-based NGO found­ed in 1997 and has had Spe­cial Con­sul­ta­tive Sta­tus with the Eco­nom­ic and Social Coun­cil (ECOSOC)  of the Unit­ed Nations since 2007. The IHRC web­site says it works with dif­fer­ent orga­ni­za­tions from Mus­lim and non-Mus­lim back­grounds “to cam­paign for jus­tice for all peo­ples regard­less of their racial, con­fes­sion­al, or polit­i­cal back­ground.” The IHRC is con­sid­ered sup­port­ive of the Iran­ian regime and for many years has been cen­tral to orga­niz­ing the events of the annu­al Inter­na­tion­al Quds Day, ini­ti­at­ed by the Iran­ian rev­o­lu­tion­ary regime.
