An Israeli NGO is reporting that Oussama Jammal, director of the Muslim American Society (MAS) and Secretary-General of the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), recently called on American Muslims to vote in order to influence foreign policy and suggested the US intentionally sows chaos in the Middle East. According to a report by MEMRI:
June 23, 2022 In a Friday, June 17, 2022 sermon at the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, Illinois, Oussama Jammal, who serves as the director of the Muslim American Society (MAS) and as the Secretary-General of the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations, said that voting is the jihad and weapon of Muslims in America. He called on American Muslims to vote in order to influence foreign policy, and he argued that if Muslims are “strong voters” they can influence Congress to pay money to refugees created by American foreign policy. In addition, Jammal suggested that the purpose of America’s foreign policy may be to intentionally sow chaos and destruction in the Middle East, and he claimed that Muslim countries are the biggest financers of Islamophobia in America because “they don’t like this leadership of the Muslim community.” The video of the sermon was streamed live on the mosque’s YouTube channel.

The Muslim American Society (MAS) was identified in a report authored by the GIOR editor as a part of the US Muslim Brotherhood and closely tied to the Egyptian organization. According to a Chicago Tribune investigation, the MAS early in its history chose to conceal its Brotherhood affiliation, fearing that the US would crack down on Hamas members.
The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO) is comprised almost solely of elements of the US Muslim Brotherhood. USCMO Secretary-General Oussama Jammal has long been a leader of the Bridgeview Mosque and its Mosque Foundation, the focus of a 2004 Chicago Tribune investigation. The investigation revealed that as much as $1 million a year had been raised from mosque members which was sent to overseas Muslim charities, principally in support of Hamas. The article also detailed the mosque’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. In October 2020, we reported that the USCMO hosted a meeting of dozens of Western Muslim Brotherhood-linked organizations.
Recent Global Influence Operations Report coverage of the USCMO and Oussama Jammal has included:
- In April, we reported that USCMO board member Osama Abuirshaid was among a group of Muslim Brotherhood-linked individuals attending the 20th Doha Forum in Qatar.
- In January, we reported that Jammal and USCMO board member Osama Abuirshaid attended a US conference during which one speaker made a series of incendiary allegations, essentially designating large portions of the Jewish community in the US.
- In October 2021, we reported that Jammal and USCMO Chairman Moohsin Ansari attended a conference organized by the Turkish-American National Steering Committee (TASC) which also included Turkish President Erdoğan.
